Dr Niels Brouwers (Postdoctoral Research Fellow)

I am interested in spatio-temporal processes influencing the dynamics and functioning of wooded landscapes. I am particularly interested in conducting research aimed at providing a better understanding of ecological and ecosystem processes that help inform restoration initiatives and improve sustainable land management and biodiversity conservation.

I have over five years of experience in undertaking and designing programmes of research in ecology, focusing on woodland/forest functioning and conservation. I have supervised projects in Europe (the Netherlands, UK) and Asia (Kyrgyzstan) and am keen to continue my research career by identifying and setting up new lines of collaborative research.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Ecology (Forest Ecology/Entomology) Bournemouth University, School Conservation Sciences, Poole, UK
  • M.Sc. in Forest and Nature Management Wageningen University, Wageningen, the Netherlands

Professional Membership

  • 2005 – present International Association for Landscape Ecologists (IALE), UK
  • 2005 – present British Ecological Society (BES), UK
  • 2004 – present Royal Netherlands Society for Agricultural Sciences (KLV), the Netherlands

Research Interests:

I am interested in spatio-temporal processes influencing the dynamics and functioning of wooded landscapes. I am particularly interested in conducting research aimed at providing a better understanding of ecological and ecosystem processes that help inform restoration initiatives and improve sustainable land management and biodiversity conservation. I further aim to continue my research career by setting up new lines of research within a collaborative working environment.
