In 2002 I joined the research group investigating the Effects of Plant Disease on Ecosystem Health and Biodiversity in Southern Australia.

In 2003 I was awarded an ARC Linkage Project Grant (Joint Chief Investigator along with Dr Giles Hardy and Dr Mike Calver at Murdoch University). Project Title: Eucalyptus gomphocephala (Tuart) decline in Western Australia.
Total funding over three years is $343 000.

In 2005 I was awarded a Murdoch University Early Career Research Grant. ($16,500): The importance of mycorrhizal associations for growth and survival of Tuarts (Eucalyptus gomphocephala).

I am currently supervising two honours students and a PhD student investigating the role of fire in declining tuart woodlands and the influence of fire history on Phytophthora cinnamomi infestation in the Stirling Ranges. I have also supervised two honours students looking at the effect of Phytophthora cinnamomi on small mammal distribution in response to habitat change in the Darling Range and Swan Coastal Plain.

I have been employed as a lecturer at Murdoch University since 1994. My duties at Murdoch University are mainly concerned with teaching plant sciences, biology and ecology (BIO103 Environmental Biology, BIO157 Animal & Plant Recognition, BIO253 Plant Biotechnology, ENV268 Ecology) as well as supervision of undergraduate and post-graduate student research projects.
